Cellulose nanocrystal-based liquid crystal structures and the unique optical characteristics of cellulose nanocrystal films

چکیده

Liquid crystals (LC) have been found to many unique characteristics during the last few decades. The liquid crystal phase is ubiquitous in biological world, as well cellulose and its derivatives. Cellulose nanocrystals (CNC), which can obtain chiral LC aqueous suspension, attracting much attention. size properties of CNC, such their light weight, special optical properties, non-toxicity, biocompatibility, etc., made them widely applicable diverse fields. This brief literature review introduces relationship between CNC. Advantages CNC a forming material preparation are discussed. left-handed cholesteric structure corresponding CNC-based described detail. suspension three stages also described. Then, main reasons accounting for brittleness non-uniformity pristine summarized, ways overcome these problems. Finally, some applications films anti-counterfeiting, colorimetric sensors, composite devices considered.
